Windows Download

Mac OS X Download

Linux Download

Encoding Master is now free

A small utility for dealing with the numerous text encodings there are in the modern computing world. If you are in a mess with text encodings, Encoding Master could help!

Features:
  • Convert text to and from any encoding!
  • Conversion has a "preview" window, which allows you to make sure that you know how your text will turn out.
  • Batch processing! All the features can be done in batches, even on files in different folders.
  • Strip, or add Unicode BOMs to files.
  • Detect and convert the type of line endings.
  • Unicode Normalisation! (NFD, NFC, NFKD, NFKC)
  • Validate the encoding of files. Especially good at XML files.
  • Repair invalid UTF-8 files.
  • You can add your own encodings. BetaCode support was done this way.
  • User safety is highest in the mind. No original files are over-written.

There is a bug that sometimes (but not always) causes this "free" version of Encoding Master to ask for a serial number. If this is happening then use... name = "Me", serial = "ENCM-1K6V-KAYV-6HH1-B1BC"

You might need Encoding Master if you:

* Often receive files that don't display properly, simply because the text encoding is wrong.

* Have a vast number of text files in an older format and need to upgrade to Unicode. Or perhaps convert from Unicode to an older format for legacy systems.

* Have files in an unknown encoding and need to figure out what the encoding is.

* Have lots of source code and need the line endings changed to a standard form.

Note: Encoding Master does not convert file formats! Encoding Master does not convert from PDF to HTML or anything else like that. Encoding Master does plain text conversion. This is a terminology mistake that people new to computing sometimes make, mixing up the words "encoding" and "format". Encoding Master can convert the encoding of XML and HTML files, however you may need to manually edit the encoding declaration of the resulting file.
