XML Editor in use

Here is a picture of the main editing window of XML Editor in use.

The buttons on the Tool Bar allow for quick entry of a variety of XML, including processing instructions, empty elements, comments, DOCTYPEs and CData sections.

XML Editor is designed to be easy to use,  and intuitive. You can move some XML, or a group XML, to anywhere in the document, by dragging it. If there is an "ambiguity" in where the XML will end up, "drop lines" appear, and you can move the mouse left or right, to select the new parent for the dragged XML.

Here you can see an example of "File inclusion". One file (apart.xml), is "included" into the master file (Book.xml), via an entity reference. When the master file is validated, any errors in the included files, are found. If any are found, they are displayed accurately, and the wrong part of the XML is selected. The whole process is very powerful, yet so intuitive to use it is mostly transparant.

Here you can see a "Holder". Holders, are small floating windows, from which you can quickly access frequently needed, or standardised XML. Holders can be created from a DTD automatically, or you can create them yourself. You can drag items from the holder to the document window and the XML will appear there. You can double-click on an item in the holder, and it is automatically added to your document, at the selection. You can drag XML to the holder to add it to the holder, and you can group items in the holder.

Here is an example of validation. When validation is done, any errors are selected in the document. This makes locating problems very easy. Syntax styling is done automatically for you.

Batch Validation can validate a whole folder of XML, in one go.

XML Editor gives you a contextual menu that gives you a menu of commands applying to the item you select, which saves a lot of time and effort.

DTD Validation is done via a menu. The DTD Validation uses the data inside the DOCTYPE tag to find the DTD that applies to the file.
